General Health & Safety Guidelines
- Always wear a buoyancy aid (life jacket) at all times while on the water
- Do not paddle under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Do not paddle after dark or in low visibility conditions
- Children should only use the kayak if they meet the minimum size for available buoyancy aids (typically 4–5+ years old)
Important Safety Notes
- Check your kayak, paddle, and valves before entering the water
- Make sure the kayak is fully inflated according to manufacturer guidelines Do not exceed the kayak’s recommended weight capacity
- Keep a safe distance from other water users (boats, anglers, paddleboarders) Follow the general flow of traffic on canals and rivers (keep to one side where applicable)
- Slow down and give way when passing others
- Avoid paddling too close to riverbanks, bushes, or submerged objects
- Do not drag the kayak over rough surfaces or shallow areas
- Avoid shallow water where the kayak may scrape against the bottom
- Enter and exit the water only at safe and appropriate access points
- Be cautious when getting in and out to avoid slipping or damaging the kayak
- Always check weather conditions before heading out
- Avoid strong winds, heavy rain, or fast-moving water
